Mission Statement:
The full Greenville Homeschool Athletic by laws and statement of faith can be found at www.greenvillearchers.com. To summarize, we at GHA want to provide homeschool students with a platform for competitive sports, aiming to foster the development of individuals grounded in Christian values.
Greenville Homeschool Athletics is a Christian faith-based organization dedicated to assisting parents as they educate their children spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. We serve as a social network for students as well as a support system for parents as we encourage and assist each other on our homeschool journey. As such, it is our expectation that all participants behave in a way that is honoring to Christ and builds up those around them.
Registration:
You may register your student(s) beginning mid-August through September 25th. All athletes will be required to sign liability release waivers during online registration. During registration you will also be asked for a shirt size as well as jersey number. Registration after September 25th, will have additional late fees.
As a homeschool program it is the responsibility of each athlete’s parent(s) to ensure the wellness, health, and safety and eligibility are met. If an athlete is injured or sick, it is up to the discretion of the athlete’s parent(s) whether or not they are fit to continue participation. We recommend that each athlete receive and pass a full athletic physical prior to participation in our programs.
Fees:
Pre-season camps will run from September 10th through October 1st (every Monday and Thursday) and will cost $5 a session. If a payment has been made prior to attending camp, camps will be free. Basketball is $375 per player due September 25, 2026. If you are not able to pay the full amount you may break up the amount into two payments. The first payment of $188 will be due September 25, 2026. The second payment of $187 will be due November 1, 2026. There will be an additional fee for late payment. Please note if you sign up for two payments and pay with a credit/debit card it will automatically take out the 2nd payment on November 1st.
To provide transparency we have included a chart to show the overall operating expense for GHA Basketball.
Jerseys and Equipment:
One reversible uniform is included in the registration fee. Your player’s shirt size and number preference will be collected during the online registration process. It is your responsibility to ensure proper uniform sizing. The Commissioner will have two sample uniforms and a sizing kit available to ensure proper size and fit. Uniforms must be ordered by the end of September to ensure their arrival by November.
When choosing a uniform number, it may be a one- or two-digit number with each digit not exceeding 5. Some examples are 1, 13, 54. Please do not use the number 53, as we have reserved this number for a backup jersey to use in case of emergencies. During registration you will provide three preferred numbers. The coaches and commissioners will do their best to assign first choice. We will let families know number assignment prior to ordering.
There are a few additional items your athlete will need for practice and games.Required:
Communication
This year the Band app will be used to communicate with all athletes and their families. Please download the Band app and join the Greenville Homeschool Athletics Basketball group. Make sure to turn on notifications, as we do not want you to miss any important information. Note that all team information will be posted in our Band group. There will also be separate team chats where communication can be posted for one specific team. Be mindful of when posting questions or information. Main group posts should be relevant to all players, regardless of team they play on. Utilize the team chat if the question or information pertains only to a specific team. Band also offers individual messaging if you need to contact just one person. Please do not sell or solicit without permission. If you are having any issues with the band app please reach out for help.GHA strives for good sportsmanlike conduct both when together as well as on online platforms. If your athlete joins the band app, please ensure all their communications are also respectful and honoring God.

Parent Volunteer Opportunities and Work Assignments
GHA operates solely by volunteers. To run the GHA basketball program, it takes over 250 volunteer hours. This does not include the volunteer hours our coaches and commissioners donate. As Basketball Commissioners, we are asking for every family to participate. If each family serves 10 hours we can share this load equally. When registering your athlete please identify at least one volunteer role your family would be willing to help with. In addition to volunteer roles, one adult from each family is required to attend bookkeeping training (held during a practice) and may be asked to be available during games for bookkeeping.

Team Assignments and Playing Time:
GHA is a competitive basketball program. Because of this there are certain expectations we have for all athletes. The first expectation is that athletes commit to taking care of their bodies by consuming a healthy diet and exercise so that they are ready to compete when called upon. The only way you will truly progress as an athlete is if you are willing to put in the time and effort necessary to improve.
The second expectation is the understanding that coaches are making the best decision for the team. We strive to provide developmental opportunities for everyone. Often coaches have limitations that they are working around to do what is best for the team. Coaches will look for opportunities to play every athlete, but know that there will be a few games where some athletes do not get to play. Being a competitive team the goal is to have the strongest line up on the court to win the game. This is not a reflection or lack of trust in your athlete and their skill.
Please be supportive of our coaches by reassuring your athlete in disappointing times. Listed are a few things you can remind your athlete rather than focusing on the amount of play time.
Sideline Etiquette
Everyone is representing GHA during the game on the side line. Your actions can have both positive and negative impacts. Below are reminders of the expectations:Please Do:
Conflict Resolution:
If you have any questions or concerns, please discuss it directly with your son or daughter’s coach. If you are concerned about your athlete’s position or playing time, please make it a point to wait 24 hours after a game/tournament before discussing it with the coach. At no point should you confront a coach, parent, or athlete in an aggressively confrontational way - especially during or immediately following a game. You are welcome to reach out the same day to let the coach know that you would like to follow up with them the following day. This will help both you and the coach to process the situation fully then discuss it the following day in a calm, respectful manner. We do ask that at least one additional adult (ideally a second coach) be present in conversations as well to help reduce miscommunication. Ultimately, if there is a conflict that cannot be resolved between you and the coach, you may bring it to the attention of the Basketball Commissioner(s), and ultimately the Board of Directors for resolution.
